about this tutorial

This tutorial to When I Said I Do by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black was a special request from an online student who reached out to me more than a year in advance of her 50 year wedding anniversary and vow renewal. She and her husband were married at age 16 and 19 with no ceremony, cake or even a picture of them on the day! They wanted to share a special dance to this very special song, and they asked me to create it for them — what an honor! This dance is very romantic, very simple, but classic and most importantly, beginner-friendly, so that you can learn to dance quickly and easily while still wowing your friends and family. Don’t wait 50 years to finally learn to dance! Start learning now so you can share countless special moments throughout your long and happy marriage.

can we really learn to dance online?

Yes, you can learn to dance for your wedding online and quickly, even if you've never danced a day in your life. Like learning a new language, learning to dance takes effort and consistency. You won't be able to just watch the videos and then magically be able to dance if you don't actually practice the steps. But I promise, this is still the easiest wedding dance tutorial that exists online. Some couples will find my online method of learning even easier than in-person lessons because you will see exactly how the steps are supposed to look before you even try them. Plus, the unique design of the course helps complete beginners slowly build their skills and confidence without throwing you into the deep end of overly complicated choreography.

How long does the choreography take to learn?

The entire tutorial takes the average couple about three hours to complete, including practice time between steps. If you have the time, I recommend focusing on one step/section per practice session. It will take you a little less than a week to complete if you break it apart into one or two sections per day. If you are a marathon learner or test-crammer, you might set aside several hours on the weekend to learn each step in the course before putting it together into choreography. You’ll still need to practice the dance leading up to your wedding to build muscle memory. Every time you practice you will look and feel more natural and relaxed.

How long will i have access to this course?

You’ll have access for a year from the date of purchase. You don’t need a year to learn, and most couples do all their learning in a compressed time frame once they feel the pressure of their looming wedding date. But I want you to be able to enroll when it makes sense for you and work on this at your leisure, without worrying about any dates except your wedding date. Wedding planning is stressful! Learning to dance is supposed to be fun!
